NEARLY TIME TO LEAVE THE NEST

This is a juvenile Wheatear, I noticed its parents feeding it. It seemed totally at ease with me watching it, quite happily trying to feed its self. Sitting down in the sand, where it looked really odd, its posture reminding me of a Nightjar. It would walk around stretching its wings, occasionally going back under the rock where I presume its nest was. Regularly the parents returned to feed it.
I am pretty sure it could not fly.

I left it and walked over to Start Point island, I returned a couple of hours later and it was still there. It was still un-concerened by my presence, after a few minutes the male bird returned, landed next to it, made a few chirps then the male bird flew off. Within seconds it spread its wings again and suddenly took off, flew right next to me, and around on to the roof an old building next to the male parent.

I am sure I had just witnessed its very first flight.
