LAKE VYRNWY by markp

LAKE VYRNWY

The retaining wall, built in the 1880's to hold back the waters at the head of the Vyrnwy valley. It was built to supply drinking water to Liverpool. The actual lake is far bigger than this photograph makes it appear. There is a road that circuits the lake and it is just over 12 miles right around. There is also a small village somewhere underneath there, as the waters rose, it had to be abandoned and was flooded.
