This is Start Point Lighthouse, on Start Point Island, a tidal island on the north east coast of Sanday in the Orkneys.
This is quite an interesting lighthouse, it was built in 1806, by Robert Stevenson. It was the first lighthouse in Scotland to have a revolving light. It is also the only Scottish lighthouse to have vertical stripes.
The blue squares are Solar cells, using the daylight to charge the batteries that keep the light working through the night.
There is another Start Point Lighthouse in Devon.
