The Texture of the Sweetgum and Pine Trees

I've been trying for days to get a decent shot of these two trees growing next to each other. They are so very different in every way! You can see the difference in the bark. One sheds it's leaves in autumn and grows round spiney balls to disperse its seed. The other is an evergreen, sheds its long needles during the summer and grows cones.
