Course, I didn't take this pic. Mom asked me to scan it and fix it for her as best as I could. This is the untouched scan with real cracks - not Picnik'd or Photoshop'd in. Isn't she a knock out in her cowgirl outfit my grandmother hand made for her? And check out that Gene Autry guitar! She could sing and yodel better than Patsy Montana, too!!! For those of you who don't know who Patsy Montana was - Google her! Now you know where part of my love for all things western, including the unique music comes from. The rest comes from my dad!
She is truly beautiful . . I'll bet that she is so thankful that you have worked on saving this photo for her. Many special memories here for both of you. Love that this photo is untouched. It's got that beautiful appearance that comes with age. Lovely . . just lovely. :)
@sls I could never play guitar with long fingernails but, it's amazing how many female singers do. Dolly Parton for one!!! Thank you for your comments, Angie!
Absolutely priceless! What a great photo to have and how wonderful that we can now scan and keep these photos digitally to ensure that we will have them always.
"I'm Back in the Saddle Again.......... Out where a friend is a friend........"
This is a great photo! I have piles of photos that I have to scan, keep delaying the project.
She is lovely! The photo is lovely! I would love to sort out that shot. I love fixing up old photos. It is so satisfying to see the finished picture. Fun.
Love your mom. She is really beautiful in this. I bet she is a lovely person too. Give her a kiss for me!
@ronphotos365 Ha ha! Thank you, "Gene!" Those are some great lyrics! LOL! Thank you, Ron! Appreciate your kind comment! Just scan one pic a day or 2 every other day. Baby steps will get it done as you have a few minutes.
@melissapike Melissa, thank you very much for those lovely complements about my mom! She does have a "pin up" girl photo that I will have to get her to find so I can scan it!
@marlboromaam You know, I was going to say she had a pin-up look, but I didn't know if that would come across in the way I meant it - as a compliment. You read my mind!
@melissapike LOL! I would've known what you meant! She had the pin up photo made for my dad when he was a young Lt. in the Air Force gone off to pilot training. She's in a 40s one piece bathing suit showing off her gorgeous legs!
What a beautiful photo of your Mom. Love the guitar and that type of music. I know of and have heard Patsy Kline but not Patsy Montana. Will google her. Nice to have photos like this and to share the memories.
@darsphotos Thank you very much for your lovely compliments about my mom's photo, Darlene. Oh! Patsy Montana is in a whole other world from Patsy Cline and came much earlier than Patsy Cline. Ever heard the song "I wanna be a cowboy's sweetheart"?
So fascinating seeing where your love for all things western came from. Love seeing the connection between people's history and now. So beautiful and wonderful scan! Thanks for sharing such a charming and valuable heirloom with us all.
Great memorable shot. When I was a little boy the only films we would see were those of cowboys and indians. Poor indians they always lost. How many times we saw ladies dressed like your mum in those films. Lovely shot AND MUM.
@sangwann Really? Wow! Most of the westerns I watched didn't have many indians. Was bad guys and good guys in white hats! I love them most of all! Thank you for the compliment! I'll pass that along to her!
@pammerritt I can't play with long fingernails either!!! But she could and so can Dolly Parton and a whole lot of other country/western female vocalist! Amazing! I'll pass your compliments along to her! Thank you!
@cindyrez Thank you, Cindy! Yes, my grandmother was very talented in sewing but, she grew up in an era where you had to be! Raising a family during the Great Depression required it!
What a fantastic photo! enjoyed seeing this and listening to cowgirl sweetheart. thanks! you sure are a real cowgirl! in fact you just inspired me to put my own cowgirl hat on i spied on top of my wardrobe!
She sure is beautiful, so that's where you get it from then:) I have heaps of old shots like this of my family going back amost 100 years, problem is that not all of them have who they are written on the backs of them, but I still do love to look at them:)
@veekay Thank you, Vicki! I'll pass that along to her and it will make her day! Start scanning some of your pics! I'm sure I'm not the only one who would love to see your vintage pics!
Such a cool photo! I love old ones like this. One of the reasons I love photography so much - it's a fantastic way to preserve special memories of events and cherished loved ones. The handmade outfit is awesome. Your mom looked so darling in it, like a true down home country star.
@beteljooz You are so nice to take the time to view and comment on this pic of my mom, George. Thank you very much! She really could have been a star but, married my dad, became a very supportive USAF wife and had me instead. I do believe she does miss it, though she would not admit it to anyone. =)
I'm sorry I missed this one. Wow — post #160! Way back in the day now! Beautiful photo. Definitely one to scan and digitize for preservation! Is this the only photo of your mom you've posted?
@kerristephens Aww! Thank you, Kerri! =)
