before she became a wife and a mother. Isn't she a pin-up beauty? My father was a "leg" man and he loved my mother's long legs and often complimented her on them. He told me many times that I inherited my mother's legs, too. And just look at her gorgeous auburn locks!
My parents met at Piedmont College in northern Georgia. My mother was born and raised on a farm in the Smoky Mountains of North Carolina. My dad was a Georgia farm boy. After graduation, my father went off to Texas for Officers Training School for the USAF, to be followed up by pilot training. Mom and dad were engaged and during their separation, dad asked mom to have this photo made for him... The signature says, "To Bob, With all my love, now, always and forever. Sandy" My parents were blessed with that special lasting love between two people. I am blessed that God chose them for my parents.
I wanted to post this shot for Sunday's pic since I will be posting an old pic of my dad for my Memorial Day pic. This photo was too big for my scanner, so I had to take a pic of it. I got it as square as I could, not an easy thing to do for me. @joeboxster and I were discussing old "pin-up" posters from the 40's, and that's what prompted me to ask mom if I could borrow her photograph!
That is one beautiful woman. What a tribute to the love shared between your folks. It is a wonderful thing being raised with that - I know.
Thanks for sharing a part of your life that I am sure is close to your heart. Oh, and great shot!
beautiful photos, beautiful lady, a true pin-up pose, i love love stories, my parents are immigrants left for brazil to several italian cities, and fate willed that you encounter in a foreign land and were married there.
Wow .... she's beautiful. And yes, what gorgeous legs ....reminds me of that Betty Grable photo that the U.S. military used to love in WW11 (I think?!!) You look like your Mom, Maggie.
Such an incredible piece of family history you have they, Mags. Be sure you take pains to preserve this for future family members. Your mom was quite a little hottie back in the day. "Hubba-Hubba!"

aww maggie you've just shared a piece of your family history with us all. It's a privilege to share that piece of history with you. Your mother looks great , very beautiful..... we have a saying in the UK ..'like mother , like daughter'...which essentially means the daughter inherited the mothers good looks and other attributes ....'like mother like daughter maggie' :)
What a pair of legs - they go on forever! A real pin-up girl! Thank you for sharing the story with us, it's a privilege to be introduced to your family.
Incredible, all of it! Your shot, and the entire story. Your mother is quite lovely. It's interesting that parents have a life outside of being your mom or dad.
Add another WOW to the list. Your mother is beautiful and this is such a classic pin-up photo. What a great memorial day photo! Can't wait to see your Dad too!
Yeowza! You Mom was quite the looker! A southern belle if I ever saw one. You are lucky to have such great parents. I can tell their memories are still fresh in your heart.
Ooh, she is so beautiful! What a great photograph for your father to have while they were separated. He must have cherished it so much. Awesome shot, and thank you for sharing it with us. 8)
Maggie, you are a genius! I love this shot and it gave me an idea to post an old photo of my mom today. I've been meaning to do that for so long. I'm running out of ideas for outdoor photos since I haven't been out of the neighborhood for a while ;-) Ironically, my dad was a leg man, too! She is a beautiful lady!
@marlboromaam Maggie - you are young and you never know. Tom and i will be married 31 years on the 6th - without a doubt the love of my life.....but my second marriage. I screwed up. I have my sons from the first one and for that I will always be thankful. Tom raised them and is Papa to the grands. You never know what will happen in this world. Take my word for it! Who thought some guy would come along and fall in love with a woman with two little boys........
@cdonohoue LOL! 56 and I don't feel so young anymore, Cathy. You have an amazing love story yourself there, gal! You should tell it some day. We all make mistakes. I sure made enough of my own. Tom must be one-of-a-kind man, my dear! I know you cherish him, as he cherishes you.
@sharritta Thank you, Sharon! It is a cool story but there are many more just like it. =)
What a beautiful photo of your Mom, Maggie. From what I can tell, you look like her. What a story about her and your Dad. So glad that you shared this.
I love this photo! - I have a photo of my mother like this - not quite as posed, but it's very beautiful like this. I'll have to dig it up. My parents were blessed to have had a wonderful marriage for 56 years before my mom died - this brings back so many memories!
Yes, your mom is a beauty! Lovely romantic story too! I've only gotten a glimpse of you here and there, but I can tell you have inherited her good looks!

@marlboromaam Oh wow, she looks taller then that in this photo!! lol. I would have thought she was taller then me! goes to show what angles can do in photography :)
This is really nice ..sort of reminds me of those paintings you could see on the front of WW2 bombers ....Lovely keepsake , Give your mom a wolf whistle from me ..lol.
What a neat piece of your family history. I love that you can see the writing on it, though it was good to have it translated as it is so faded by the years. Such a pretty woman and great photo. Glad that your parents were so happy together!
