Since I am still without my beloved iMac... Giving you my very first "cowgirl poem" and 3rd or 4th iMovie... All the photos used are courtesy of My 365er friend and "real" cowgirl down under, Barb @lornavale, God bless her! I just fell in love with her photos and was so happy she allowed me to use them in my little video.
Had a little coaching from a "real" cowboy poet, too, Clark Crouch! He's won many western awards for his poetry. I invite you to check out his website and poetry here... http://poetry.crouchnet.com/
For those of you not familiar with "cowboy poetry"... Clark will tell ya, it's all about great rhythm and true rhyme. My rhythm is a little rough in the meter and the "true" rhyme is questionable. But, the story is true and that's another thing that really counts with cowboy poetry. No prose or long verse or abstract words and lines... Have to count your syllables and make sure they're even! Your story told through "cowboy" poetry must be simple to understand! Like I said, it's my first "cowgirl poem"... They only improve after this one.
Yes, that's my voice at Clark's insistence. He said only the author can read their poem with the feeling and meaning for which it was written.
I dont know what to say! Every thing about that poem is so beautiful, Your voice is superb, the words so lovely, and the pictures are amazing. I loved it all. so so clever.
Wow, I loved absolutely everything about this, Maggie. The slideshow, your voice speaking beautiful but somewhat sad words that I am sure many can relate with in perfect time with such beautiful photos and music that flowed with what you said and the slideshow. Brought me to tears. So powerful. So beautiful and so "You". FAV Do you believe that things happen for a reason? This would not have been made if not for your computer being down now. I hope it gets resolved quickly so you have it to use, meantime, you made such great use of time away from your photos. Have a great day and hugs to you.
@laurentye You are such a sweetheart, Lauren! Thank you so much for your lovely comments!
@darsphotos Oh, no! Never meant to bring anyone to tears, Darlene. I made this last year. It's not new. LOL! I made it on my iMac that's at the repair place. They're all Barb's photos, too. None are mine. Thank you for your wonderful and sweet comments! Grateful to have them!
@purdey You are too kind, Sharon! LOL! Perhaps if I was really talented, I'd have a job. I was going to get a gal with a really nice voice to read my poem, because I don't like my voice. Clark kind of nixed that. Thank you for your lovely comments! Really appreciated!
Wow...thanks so much for sharing this! I always enjoy checking out your pics on 365 and now a chance to see your other creative sides...fabulous! Fav for sure!
I'm so glad you did this. It was absolutely beautiful. So wonderful to actually hear your voice--and your poem was so very sweet and so touching to learn about your story. A fav for me.
@marlboromaam I am sorry, I misunderstood but what else is new. I should have realized that you made this on your Mac. I think it is so sentimental and has a way to bring emotion out. Love it. Nice work. Will have to learn from you, the pro. Glad your computer is in the shop and hope all goes well with it.
OH WOW!!!!!!! I am in awe of this stirring poem and the beautiful graphics to go with it. I actually got the chills listening to this masterpiece. I don't see how it can ever get better than this. You sound so much like my daughter's MIL who is such a love. I would swear it was her talking. What a beautiful voice you have. FAV!!!!
@darsphotos Darlene, no need to apologize. I get lost with these kind of details on people's pics all the time. It's overwhelming the amount of information to take in, sometimes. =) I am no pro, but I am happy to help anyone I can - most of the time, with the benefit of my mistakes! LOL! Hugs! Still no word on my iMac. Hoping it can be fixed and all the data recovered.
@cindi You are very kind, Cindi! Thank you so much!
@myautofocuslife Livia, you are so kind and sweet! Thank you for your lovely comments! Always appreciated!
@swguevin You are way too kind, Sheila! Thank you for your wonderful comments! Most appreciated!

@sangwann You are a gentleman, Dione! Thank you very much!
@cimes1 I am amazed to know your daughter has a voice that sounds like mine, Carole. Wow! Your comments and very kind! Thank you so much for them and your fav! Grateful to have them!
I am blown away by your poem and video! So glad you read it yourself...that DID make it! This is terrific...a universal theme/feeling that we can all relate to. I love the photos. So Lorna Vale is on here? I don't see her tagged in this thread, but is her tag @lornavale then? I want go check out her work. The photos of hers in this are sooo gorgeous. Especially I love that orange sky in the first and last one and the haunting whippoorwill call at the start. I grew up on a mountain and would open my windows at night, dream of the future and worry my preteen and teenaged worries, and listen to that lonely whippoorwill. This is a touching piece. So had to fav it...of course!
@espyetta You are so kind, MaryBeth! Thank you for your lovely, lovely comments! I am very pleased that you could relate to it, too! Barb's pics are here and she is @lornavale. You can find her close to the bottom of the folks I follow. =) Her pics were some of the first I fell in love with when I started 365. They are beautiful and moving. It was her photos that prompted me to write my story in poetry, which was something I'd been thinking about for a long time. Mr. Crouch has shown this little video at some western poetry events and it's been deemed an international poetry project because of Barb's "cowgirl" photos from down under. Too cool, huh?
@marlboromaam No, it isn't my daughter. It's my daughter's mother-in-law. Sue looks and sounds young for her age, and she has the same accent and exact voice inflections as you do. I love to listen to her. If I didn't know that was you talking I would think it was her. She was born in South Missouri on the Arkansas border. She also lived in Tennessee, and Elvis came to visit her in the hospital in her younger days. She always has such interesting stories to tell, like you ;-)
@aleksandra Thank you for your lovely comments, Aleksandra! Really appreciate it!
@cimes1 Oh! Sorry, I misunderstood! LOL! I think my voice quivers too much and sounds too nasal. How nice that Elvis went to visit her! I have no such stories like that to tell, Carole. My stories are pretty much every day stuff. =) My accent used to be more mid-western, the effects of growing up in the Air Force. I've been in South Carolina too long now, so I've picked up the drawl and dialect without even thinking about it.
WOW Maggie you are a talented lady and I loved your movie and words.
Your 'first love' sure made an impact on you , you sounded quite hurt and a bit angry in parts ...maybe that was how you felt then .......I hope it's not how you feel now.
It was very moving maggie. Huggs Phil
BTW : One thing I noticed, the credits went off a bit too fast to read and absorb :)
I recognise the iMovie effects having made many . I can't get the credits to more slowly even if I put spaces between the words. I also refuse to talk over them as I hate the sound of my voice - all nasally and sharp! Yours has a nice husky sound to it and you read that with feeling! Thanks for this first video on 365 I've seen!
@phil_howcroft You are being the perfect gentleman again! Thank you for your lovely comments! Always appreciated! Sorry about the credits going too fast. Did you try to pause it?
@maggiemae Appreciate your honest comments, Maggiemae! Thank you very much!
@smithak Wow! Thank you so much for the lovely comments and fav, Smitha! Most appreciated!
@myhrhelper Thank you so much, Kathy! I really appreciate your kind comments! I wish someone thought enough of my talents to hire me. Wouldn't that be something?!
@sharritta Wow! Sharon you are so sweet! Thank you for your lovely comments and the fav! No, I don't mind at all! I'm honored! =)
Just because you don't get paid for it doesn't mean you don't' have talent! Look at all those famous artists that didn't' get recognized until they were gone. We notice you have talent already and your still here!
It is beautiful Maggie!!! reminds me of my first love...and I often wonder...does he ever think of me? your words really made me remember him...you really do have talent and it is so true, I am so glad you took the advice and read it yourself! You really brought it to life!
Mags - Finally got to listen to this. Your poetry and arranging of the music and photos are all excellent. I think many of us "flash back" to earlier times when we hear or read something like your poem. I too had a high school love; she told me goodbye when I returned home from Air Force Officer training at age 20. I swore I'd never get "serious" about another woman again........ Then, eight years later I met Karen; we married within six months and have been together for 44 years - I'm a luck guy.
@ronphotos365 You are both very lucky and blessed, Ron! Do you remember what John Wayne said about a couple spending all that time together in McLintock? No truer words were ever spoken! Thank you for your very kind comments! Most appreciated and grateful to receive them!
@ronphotos365 It was when he was talking to his daughter about her inheritance and what he wanted for her, "...because all the gold in the United States Treasury and all the harp music in heaven can't equal what happens between a man and a woman with all that growin' together. I can't explain it any better than that." LOL! Ain't it the truth, Ron? =)
Fantatic! Beautiful words ...love the rhythm. How wonderful to hear your voice ... that's a "selfie" in another way. Love how it's put together. Have you ever done a reading at one of their conventions?!! You should. FAV.
@karenann You are too kind, Karen! Thank you for the lovely praise and the fav. LOL! I don't like my quivery voice or accent anymore. I've been in South Carolina too long. I used to have that clean, clear mid western accent - in other words, not really an accent at all. Ha ha! No conventions around here and getting out west to read for one is slim to none of a chance. However, Clark has shown my videos at his small poetry gatherings. Heh!
@marlboromaam I think that the Southern accent just adds to the poetry! Absolutely does. And you're right ... I have the Midwest "no accent" way of speaking! Not good for readings. :)
i must say it was very neat hearing your voice :) And i think you did an AMAZING job on this!!! the slide show, the photos, the words, the music, everything....so much time must have went into this! well done!!!
Wow! I resonate so well with the latter part of the poem. It seems as written for me. So lovely! I also think that maybe, sometimes, a 'he' looks up and thinks a bit of me.
@deburahiru So, you didn't like the poetry? LOL! Thank you, Deb!
@windridge You are very kind, Susan! Thank you very much for your wonderful comments! They mean a whole lot to me!
