Created and crocheted by yours truly, and made from plastic grocery bags. I don't recycle plastic bags - I REPURPOSE them by making "plarn" and using them to crochet useful items like hats, beach bags, totes, etc. It's FREE crochet material!!! Yarn is just so expensive these days. Even the feathers are made from the bag handles. I have so many photos of crochet projects, I may have to start an album just for that reason. I might be able to back fill all those years in between when I left and when I came back.
This is so cool... you are an artist in every way and ever so kind to the earth with your recycling of plastic to "plarn." Very impressed with your hat and your skill at creating it.
@geertje My ex-boss loves it! He says it wears great and the larger stitch lets air in and out. He's the one who challenged me to create this hat for him. And, yes made from Walmart bags. Works up like raffia used to.
How absolutely FABULOUS! Plarn. I've reused plastic bags since 1985. I would wash and then dry them on the fridge door. Now I have a wide counter behind the sink that has my bags a-drying. I've started to collect silicon bags as well. FAV!
wow our supermarkets stopped supplying plastic bags quite a while back and most plastic bags you can get are biodegradable now thankfully. but this is very stylish, well done!
@kjarn Thank you, Kathy! I think anyone can learn the skills of crochet. No talent here - just determination to learn and lots of trial and error. Gray Walmart bags. LOL! You can tell where I get most of my groceries.
@kjarn But there's yarn and other things... string, jute, wire. I've even used twist ties. Be imaginative. You'd be surprised what you can find to crochet with in a hardware store. LOL!
Sorry, I combined two statements into one. I bought crochet hooks, some patterns and wool many years ago in order to learn but there they still sit. I have no motivation or imagination.
Mentioning we no longer have plastic bags was just to let you know not an "I can't crochet as we don't have plastic bags" comment 😀
@hunterjuly Thank you very much!

@milaniet Thank you, Milanie!
@aikiuser Thank you, Jenn! Lots of sites show you how to make "plarn." Takes more time to make the plarn than it does to crochet with it. =)
