Ground web wet with dew... by marlboromaam

Ground web wet with dew...

If anyone has any suggestions of how to better capture these ground webs, please pass on your knowledge to me! This shot is lacking and nothing to be proud of.

Since starting back up with 365 last May, I have researched, identified and documented with photographs 24 newly found wildflowers growing on my patch - photographed more previously identified from 2011 and 2012. I've also done the same with 10 grasses, nine lichens, nine bugs, one fungus, and one fern - plus documented with photographs many more that are NOT yet identified. Now that really is something I AM pretty proud of - even if it doesn't take a rocket scientist to do web searches. =)

Nine years ago today, I was still at the beach - https://365project.org/marlboromaam/365/2011-10-11
I have the same problem with these ground webs - have given up on them :)

@milaniet It makes sense to give up, but I'm a little obstinate that way. =)

Wouldn’t they look great on a black background although I have no suggestions

@kjarn They would! How on earth to do that though... Hmmm?

Such a pity it's on the ground, that must be a special kind of spider who likes to keep a low profile ;-)

beautifully jewelled

so so many tiny droplets!

These type of shots are definitely NOT easy to do! I might try setting the aperture larger to get the background a bit more out of focus drawing more attention to the drops?? Possibly under expose a bit as well? Regardless, this still looks way cool!

Looks good to me. Being a simpleton, I would try using another light source at ground level and then give up.

So there it is? I have been looking all over the place without success for the necklace I gave Christine years ago . I don't think you would be able to send it over if I give you the address.

You caught the beads of moisture nicely here,

You’ve caught the water droplets clinging to the web and the crisscrossed blades of grass with a touch of red add some interest. You might want to try a bit wider to get the outer edges of the web to show off its structure. I am just learning, too, so take this suggestion with a grain of salt.

@ludwigsdiana I never see the spiders in them. I suspect they're very tiny.

@sangwann LOL! I would but it would tear apart the moment I tried to pick it up. =) Thank you!

How pretty, so many sparkles!!

Just as an experiment I took your photo into my photo editor, hope you don’t mind, it was to see if I could add a bit darker background for you.
It looks a bit darker I also trimmed it to increase the size of the web, if you would like to see it, I could e mail it to you? I of course will delete it if you are not interested. Don’t know if it will help you. Do you work on an iPad?
Regards Margaret

Well I would be proud of that spider web if I had taken it. Prouder still of identifying so many things in nature. My friend and I struggle to even identify different ducks when we go out!
October 14th, 2020
@365jgh Aww! Thank you, Judy! I got used to researching and identifying back in 2011 here. So many people would ask, "What's that? Where's that from?" etc. Rather than research after, I just do it as I find and photograph these subjects.
