I knew this was hedgenettle, I just wasn't sure about which variety. They are so similar and there are several different varieties. So I asked the experts at SCNP and it's Stachys floridana - commonly known as Florida Betony or Florida Hedgenettle or Rattlesnake Weed. It's native to Florida, but the experts said it's been creeping up into the southeastern states. And here I thought it was some type of Iris...shows how little I know! The tones in the background add so much to this image... so well done and so much more subtle than your 9-year ago shot.
