My 19th wildflower find of spring... by marlboromaam

My 19th wildflower find of spring...

I knew this was hedgenettle, I just wasn't sure about which variety. They are so similar and there are several different varieties. So I asked the experts at SCNP and it's Stachys floridana - commonly known as Florida Betony or Florida Hedgenettle or Rattlesnake Weed. It's native to Florida, but the experts said it's been creeping up into the southeastern states. More info on this lovely first-time find for me here - http://namethatplant.net/plantdetail.shtml?plant=1460.

Nine years ago today - https://365project.org/marlboromaam/365/2012-05-10
Beautiful. Love the background,. Makes the flowers stand out.

And here I thought it was some type of Iris...shows how little I know! The tones in the background add so much to this image... so well done and so much more subtle than your 9-year ago shot.
