now a days here the first thing I think of when I see the woods is ticks ..... that's sad because they are so beautiful

@lesip That's okay. The first thing I think of at this time of year in the woods is copperheads. Number one snake bite in SC. People just don't see them because they are so well camouflaged in leaf clutter.
