"But, soft! What light through yonder window breaks?"
Its the dawn of day out here in the country! You know it's just TOO HOT outside when I'm shooting my window treatments. LOL!
1968 - Len Whiting and Olivia Hussey gave us one of the greatest performances of Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet. I was 12 years old at the time Franco Zeffirelli's version of the movie was released and had never read the play or seen a movie about it... When the movie was over, I remember I was so angry at Shakespeare for writing such a terrible ending for these two lovers. I left the theater in tears just weeping for their sad and tragic ends. I was upset about it for weeks! And ya know, I still don't think I ever got over being mad at Shakespeare! Hah!
The original trailer... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2LOfgaSvKz8 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RsGhZiDRYSg
Lovely light. Oh, I remember seeing that movie--we won't talk about the fact that I was a junior in high school and was madly in love with Romeo!!!! I was familiar with the play, so I knew what was coming. Yet still cried my eyes out. And you are right, the original score was wonderful. (Did you know they are doing another version due out sometime next year???)
@maggiemae Thank you, Maggiemae! Really appreciate your comments! Take it from me, this is July in South Carolina - it's ALWAYS HOT here this time of year. LOL!
@yonnie Thank you so much for your wonderful comments, Yvonne! Glad to know I wasn't the only one! Ha ha! No, I did not know that. This one was supposed to be closer to the true story of these young lovers. I wonder if the new will be, too or if they'll follow Shakespeares lines more accurately.
@cromwell ROFLOL! Too funny! You would cry for that reason! Thank you for stopping by, guy!
"It is the east, and Juliet is the sun." I hated Shakespeare in high school because it didn't make sense and I couldn't remember what we were supposed to memorize. So here I am umpteen years later and I can recall parts of it. Go figure?
@wenbow Thank you for your lovely comments, Wendy!
@skipt07 LOL! I'm not a fan of his tragedies, but I must admit that I love his comedies! Did you ever see Danny Devito in "Renaissance Man?" That is actually the best way, I have ever heard Shakespeare's language explained and it really made a whole lot of sense. The screenwriters were brilliant in their dialog to make the Double D's understand it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JEwV7o-Tzb4 If you haven't seen this movie, it really is a great take on Shakespeare!
Love the lighting through the curtains .... really is soft and beautiful. I didn't see that movie. But had to study good old Shakespeare alot in college. He loved his "tragedies!" lol
Just had a thought - In the early 1980's, when they were in middle school, we took our two sons from our home in the mountains of northern California to Ashland, Oregon for a Shakespeare Festival, had a great time
Beautiful shot. Love it in b&w. I avoided all things Shakespeare for a long time and was not a romantic in my early teens. I have now seen some good Shakespeare acts and enjoyed them.
I love the b & w effects used with these dreamy window treatments, making the scene look a bit eerie. Reminds me of a scene from Great Expectations. I would pin this one. If I were to rejoin Pinterest again would I be able to only have one page like you do with all my friends photo favs including mine? I would not want anything else.
@cimes1 Thank you, Carole! Your comments just made my night! Do you mean that you just want to have one board to pin to? You know I have three 365er fav boards and I'm thinking of breaking the main one down into two more - it's gotten really big!
@marlboromaam Well, if I did it I would only have one board. Currently I share my own photos on FB because I have a following there. Then each day I fav all my favorite shots for the day here on 365. So after thinking about it, don't think I need to add any other sites. But I really love what you've done on Pinterest.
@cimes1 You might want to keep in mind that Pinterest is surpassing Facebook just like Google+. LOL! It's going the way of MySpace. Just saying. Might be better to stick your fingers in that pie now, than later.
