Passion fruit... by marlboromaam

Passion fruit...

Shot in black and white. No conversion. I popped one of these open and tried tasting it yesterday... It had no flavor that I could detect and lots of pith - but I didn't get sick or die from it. I think I prefer pomegranates! LOL!

Your camera does a great job with the tonal range on B&Ws. Love the way the fruit is framed with the vines and stems… nice. Your taste test cracked me up… very glad you didn’t “get sick or die.”

@kvphoto LOL! Thank you, KV! For a long time, I thought these were poisonous. Then I learned they were edible, but had never tried one until yesterday. I could eat a blade of grass and get more flavor. I was told they had a lemon-like taste. Uh, no!

Lovely B&W shot. You were brave to try it.

@mittens Thank you, Marilyn!

@milestonevisualmedia LOL! Did you read the part about being edible?

@phil_howcroft Sure! Going to come and get one? LOL!

I've seen them (last year) but never tried eating one. Thanks for letting me experience it through you :)

@milaniet Ha ha! Maybe they're better at different times. I don't know. Perhaps if we were starving - they'd taste better. =)

Fav - love the art in this

I don't think I've actually ever eaten a passion fruit - love the name of course

@phil_howcroft LOL!

@joysabin They are so good! Can't always find them at the grocery store now though.

@dutchothotmailcom Thanks, Esther!

@catcarter19 Thank you very much! I think the ones they grow in Europe and the UK must taste better than these that grow wild here in the states.

Maybe it is not ripe yet Mags, mine go a purplish colour and start to shrivel up when ripe. They are so sweet and juicy ;-)
July 20th, 2021
don't look like one I would eat, are you sure it is an edible variety? if it is, it isn't even close to ripe 😊
July 20th, 2021
glad you didn't die tho .... just sayin

Beautiful b&w capture.

@ludwigsdiana Interesting! I think it's a difference in the variety. These are wild and stay green until they rot.

@koalagardens I'm sure they're edible, they just don't have much of a taste. I'll have to cut one open and shoot it. They're supposed to have a lemony flavor. LOL! Still here.

@haskar Thank you, Haskar!

Lovely b&w shot

ha! I had a similar experience with some gooseberries.
July 20th, 2021
Online it says you eat the pulp and the seeds but the seeds are tart.
July 20th, 2021
@framelight_byasli Thank you, Asli!

@blueberry1222 LOL! Did you really? I don't think I've ever tasted gooseberries.

@k9photo Now I didn't eat any seeds yet, but the pulp was pretty tasteless.
