Deformed and under-developed...

Shot in black and white. My favorite oak tree (pin oak) normally has big fat round acorns. Last year there were too few and this year, there's too few and the few are deformed and under-developed. Poor thing was just stressed by getting topped year before last and the heat this summer was probably too much. Maybe next year!
What a shame - but a good shot

You top your trees in the country?

@danette I had the pin oak topped so it would bush out. It was growing straight up. I did the same with a water oak and the maple by the back deck. Just so they'd give more shade and they have. The guy didn't do such a good job with the maple though. He didn't cut it back enough so it still looks too straight up.

@ljmanning Thank you, Laura. Me too.

@ludwigsdiana Thank you, Diana.

@monikozi Thank you, Monica. No. They are still green with lots of brown spots. If we have a good autumn - they turn bright orange.

The oaks in our part of the world have bumper crops about every 4-5 years. The other years have measely yields, or are underdeveloped.

@ososki Maybe that's a bit of good news for me and the pin oak. =)
