@wakelys They're dead branches, Susan. Typical of the loblolly pine as it grows taller, it's lower limbs die and eventually fall if the the wind doesn't knock them down.
@homeschoolmom They're messy with their dropping limbs and the pine beetles love them. They're all over the place around here. Wish they were more like the long needle pine, but better than no pines at all. =)
