Filler and okay, it's not as sharp as I'd like. But is this spider missing some legs or is it supposed to look like this? Did a simple Google search and this is what I found out... http://ednieuw.home.xs4all.nl/Spiders/ArgiopesUS/Argiopes_USA.html But it looks like it's missing a couple of legs to me!
That web is amazing. Wow. And he looks a little scary--I think I'd still be scared of him because I have a feeling he can get around just fine with whatever legs he has!!!!
@marlboromaam - I just did some research and learned that spiders go through a process known as ecdysis. They shed their old exoskeleton and grow a new one to accommodate their growing bodies. The times when spiders shed their old exoskeleton are called instars A spider can have more than 20 instars in its life before reaching full maturity when it keeps its final exoskeleton until death. So if your spider still has some instars in its life it will regrow its legs if not, it will die with three legs missing.
Love that web ... amazingly beautiful. The legs do puzzle me too. Still it's a great find and lovely photo. The things that we learn about insects on here are wonderful.
