Greenbrier... by marlboromaam

Greenbrier...

I despise this vine! It is the scourge of my yards. It grows up in my shrubs next to their roots and you can't kill it. You have to dig it up and pull it out by the roots! What I neglected to get in the frame is the nasty briars it has. Maybe another photo for another day.
But how adorable is this little guy? Great shot of a lovely leave and curly vine. Love your processing, too. Now quick, kill it!

But it looks so nice.. and that little green string looks like it can attach itself very nicely to ANYTHING!! .. And those briars.. OUCH.. Can you tell I have the same thing in my yard..
you made it look beautiful though.. just sayin.

Great shot of this vine. The vine is strongly attached. Why is it that the prettiest and strongest vines happen to be weeds.

Is that kudzu? I know exactly what you mean. Lots of that growing wild in the fields around here. Fab processing and you made it look like a sweet, adorable little twining vine ;-)
August 6th, 2012
@cimes1 No, it's not Kudzu. Kudzu is NOT a native wild vine and you can read about that here... http://www.nps.gov/plants/alien/fact/pumo1.htm

This is "greenbrier" and there are two (2) NATIVE wild varieties growing around my place... http://www.namethatplant.net/plantdetail.shtml?plant=1402 and this is the one in my photo... http://www.namethatplant.net/plantdetail.shtml?plant=1395

Thank you for your kind comments, Carole! I guess that's what we all do - take the ugly and some how try to make it beautiful. But this vine really is nasty!
August 7th, 2012
@marlboromaam Tnx for the info, Maggie. We have so many invasive vines, I can never tell the difference and they all grow so fast and wild....We just call them all Kudzo. LOL! I learn so much here on 365.
