Verbascum thapsus...

Also known as Woolly Mullein, Common Mullein, Flannel-plant, or Velvet-plant. A non-native from Europe. It's really a fascinating plant and documented growing wild in the Carolinas and Georgia. I need to see if I can transplant it to a big pot so the lawnmower doesn't cut it down.

Some very interesting articles on it here - https://davesgarden.com/guides/articles/weeds-with-a-purpose-great-mullein-verbascum-thapsus and here - https://www.oakhillhomestead.com/2013/05/woolly-mullein.html.
