My 14th wildflower find of spring... by marlboromaam

My 14th wildflower find of spring...

Also, for No Mow May. This is Valerianella radiata - commonly known as Beaked Cornsalad. Native to the Carolinas and Georgia, look for it in moist forest bottomlands, disturbed areas, and in this case - my unmowed backyard. More info on this little wildflower here - http://namethatplant.net/plantdetail.shtml?plant=2338

Beautiful!! But what an unfortunate name. I feel like the people who name wildflowers are the same ones that name paint colours and lipstick.

Such lovely little blossoms.

@ljmanning ROFLOL! I thought Valerianella radiata was a pretty name. Beaked Cornsalad is rather humorous, but there's usually a reason for the common name. Thank you, Laura!
