Juncus effusus... by marlboromaam

Juncus effusus...

My best guess! Commonly known as Soft Rush or Common Rush. I've never seen seed stems growing out of the middle of a tall thin stalk before. In the Juncaceae family and native to the Carolinas and Georgia. More info on this wild grass here - http://namethatplant.net/plantdetail.shtml?plant=1876

I've read recently that so many of us have lost the ability to name plants. I try to research what I find and at the very least learn its common name.
