Satisfaction - with closeups shot with this Canon. No need to comment! This is SOOC except for downsizing from 24mp. Shot in program mode, on a tripod, at 100 ISO, I forget what the aperture was. Not close enough and still blurry. I wanted to get right down into those seed pods and I realize this lens isn't made for that, but I should be able to get closer than this.
Colors are nice. I suggest you use manual focus, rather than one or another form of AF. For close-ups I mostly use a tripod, except when I am away from home. I just read a trick to deal with a shallow DOF and not using a tripod: set your camera to burst mode and use a short shutter speed (e.g 1/125 or faster). You use manual focus and set it to the front of your object. Press the shutter and keep it down and move a little back and forth. When you are lucky there will be a sharp one in that series.
I understand the frustration, but I do like the title. The minimum focus distance of the 18-55 mm lens is 0.82 feet or roughly 8 inches. Any closer will be blurry.
@fbailey Appreciate that, but if I crop it to make it bigger - you can see the blur.
