Native wild white indigo... by marlboromaam

Native wild white indigo...

No need to comment. Filler with extras for this album. It was too dark and cloudy in the woods for my camera, so my phone had to do.

My good neighbor called me and said a friend down the road and around the corner had a plant and he wanted to know what it was... LOL! I seem to be known as the wild plant lady around here and all I do is a little research that anyone can do. However, I do love a great photo op and to learn about what wild things grow around me.

My neighbor picked me up and took me to his friend's house to see it... First thing I noticed was the shape of the blooms which told me it was in the legume family - which helped me identify it through our state's plant web site. It is a type of wild white indigo - either Baptisia alba or Baptisia albescens. Both native wild plants. We will have to wait until it goes to seed to properly identify which one it is, although I think it is most likely alba. Closeup of the blooms to follow tomorrow.

The wife of my neighbor's friend whom I met on this morning is from Romania. Her name is Elena and she was a delightful lady. She's invited me for coffee one morning. =)

More info on this wild white indigo here - http://namethatplant.net/plantdetail.shtml?plant=190 and here - http://namethatplant.net/plantdetail.shtml?plant=186
So, your fame as the wild plant lady stretches out to Romania :D And I am able to confirm it
