Yep. I found a dead rat in my garden the other day and immediately thought 'Photo!' but then I didn't. I should've. Photography doesn't always have to be about the pretty.
@deens I know the feeling. I passed this victim for three day in a row thinking the same; no I can't take a photo. Yesterday (in the dark) I thought it was gone and somehow felt disappointed. Today it turned out I was looking at wrong spot yesterday! Both me and the rat were ready for the confrontation.
My sons still have their second thoughts about this particular dads-photo-moment but they got used to it...
@rich57 Nope! I once watch a docu on television about an English chap living on roadkill. On one occasion the guy was unsure of a find because there were already too many maggots! He did cook it for a long, long time and decided not to eat after tasting. Sissy :-)
tastefully done... as it happens, one of my fondest memories of my grandfather occurred because of a dead possum at the side of a dirt road - while walking, we saw it from a distance and wanted to get closer but grandma said no. Grandpa took us back later and let us get quite close. while it was a horrible sight (I still remember the vivid colors and the maggots), I appreciate so much that he satisfied our curiosity about this particular part of the cycle of life. Yes, an odd association, but one that brings back memories of a wonderful man!
Poor little guy. Here there is a whole volunteer network looking after baby kangaroos and wallabies rescued from their dead mothers' pouches. At my work they even had to deliberate on whether it beached OH&S regulations to bring the little critters into the office (it did)
