Bagijnetoren

Another architectural site. In Delft, an elevated track will be replaced by a tunnel after years of discussion. The new tunnel is situated next to the old tracks. There used to be a city wall there of which a walltower (1500) is still standing.

Last year the walltower in Delft got a new foundation and made a 15m trip to the north to make place for the construction work. Meanwhile the ceiling of the tunnel is finished and the tower moved back to it's historical location at the speed of a snail, or actually much slower.

On the left is Mill the Rose (1727). The mill is partly situated above the new tunnel too and got a brand new foundation also. It wasn't moved though. The foundation goes straight through the tunnel and will be removed as soon as the tunnel itself can bear the weight. As you can see the mill is waiting for it's blades to finally catch the wind again.
Lovely work. Nice one That curved wall is lovely.
