Turns out I left my Canon on all night, and I didn't discover this until attempting to take today's photo. So I am back to the phone camera while the battery recharges.
Very interesting effect, the blown-out look of the flash. Played around with that for awhile. This has a bit of photoshoppery - I yellowed up the browns to make them a bit richer. I also did a clone fix-up to get rid of a few red lines in my eye balls. :)
If anyone has advice on how I could have matched the colour of my lips to the orange-red balls and/or the hazel eyes, please let me know! I tried a few things but nothing looked natural enough to go with.
As always, any feedback and / or advice on this or any of my photos is welcome!
It's hard to compensate for a close up flash, even with photoshop! You could try color matching in photoshop like this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7je4T2dkRyQ I've used it before and it works quite well.
@kiwichick Thanks Lesley, cooool! I tried the colour matching on the lips and it worked great! Previously my hack has been to use colour overlay on a selection, which was quite finicky and not always particularly effective. This has opened up a huge range of possibility for me! Much appreciated!!!
