Qualtagh

For the mad minute word -- qualtagh, which, according to Catherine's post means the first person encountered on leaving your house. From the Isle of Man. A bit more information from unusedwords.com: Qualtagh is from a form of Gaelic known as Manx. It is spoken on the Isle of Man, and although it has nearly died out in conversational usage, it is a well-documented language and there is an effort to revive its usage. Literally the word qualtagh means “first foot”, as in the first person to set foot in the house on New Year’s Day, or the first person one met when they set foot outside on New Year’s Day. - See more at: http://unusedwords.com/2012/12/02/qualtagh/#sthash.ZrkLKt2B.dpuf

This is one of the construction workers at our house. they were laying rebar yesterday morning, and poured concrete in the afternoon. I forgot to take his photo when I first went outside, so this shot is from my upstairs window, through the screen. Expect lots of shots of construction over the next few months -- hopefully some of them more carefully composed and executed than this one.
I have been educated on Qualtagh! Never heard of this word till now. Neat idea!

fantastic detailed info re this word - why why did i choose it ?? - i was met with deserted streets every time i left the house for past three days - or the rear view of my hostile neighbours diving into their house! i like the colour of the pipes & borders too - good spying position on the workers!!
