Janette who works at Bike America

@cazla Cazla gave me the get pushed challenge of taking a shot which has been inspired by a photographer or artist I admire. I went to the library, browsed, and came away with Annie Liebovitz's beautiful book of portraits of women (famous and unknown) from all walks of life -- entitled, strangely enough, "Women". :-) I need to get better at "people" shots, so photographing one or more women seemed a good challenge.

I've probably not done this very nice young woman justice, and don't come anywhere remotely near Annie Liebovitz, but I did try to get some of the bike background in and this does reflect her slightly hesitant agreeing to my taking her picture. I took some shots of her while one of her coworkers looked over my son's bike. I'm very shy about photographing strangers, so I only took a few shots. I'm hoping to get my sister-in-law to let me to photograph her sometime this week and I'll spend more time with it.
Hi Mary! @mcsiegle I am your get pushed partner this week. I've reviewed your album and read some of your descriptions, and I note that you don't have very many people or critter shots, and you rarely get up close and personal and fill the frame with those subjects. So, your get pushed challenge is to NAME your SHOT after a body part, and then use a Macro lens or zoom and get right in there and fill the frame with your chosen body part.

Let's use Janette for our example. Name the shot EARLOBE and then zoom right into her right earlobe. Use your favorite method to balance and correct your shot, but really make the chosen body part the feature.

If you don't have a zoom or a macro let me know and I can make some suggestions! :) Have fun! I cannot wait to see your shot!

@thomastoth Thanks, Thomas! I have a tentative "date" with my sister-in-law Jenice to get some more shots of a woman. I'll tag your challenge onto that and get "up close" on some part of her.

Hey Mary, well done for stepping out your comfort zone and trying something new. I googled Annie Liebovitz and she is an incredibly talented photographer. This portrait works well as by including elements from her workplace you have introduced some narrative into it.
