Look at his friends

For the album cover challenge. The artist is Francis Blanchard. The album cover title, "Look At His Friends" is from a Japanese Proverb, “When the character of a man is not clear to you, look at his friends.”
This picture is of the students at the Deep Creek School in 1921. There is one more girl over on the right that I had to cut off to make the album cover square.

The littlest girl seated in the front on the left is Frank's mother, Barbara Conwell. She was in first grade. She grew up in the Deep Creek rural community SE of Manhattan. After she married and Frank was born, her father died and her mother moved to town. She and Frank's father then farmed her mother's land and raised Frank in the same house she had grown up in.
I love this photo and the story that goes with it :-)

Old photos are so interesting. I like looking at the clothes and hairstyles they have.

Hi Mary, I'm Debbie your get pushed partner for this week. Thanks for your challenge to me, will try my best.
Having a look at your project, I see that you have tried a lot of different things. Concentrating on colours I an occasional shot with some purple. So my challenge to you is to take a full frame shot of something purple (or you can choose contrasts of yellow and purple). If the purple is something found naturally or in real life rather than processed, all the better. Is that OK?

Sounds fun. I haven't too often concentrated on just one color and filled a frame with it, so a nice challenge. I'll have no problem finding purple things in this town. That's the school color for Kansas State University and it's everywhere you go. LOL i'll try to find some non-KSU purple as well and make a week of purple.

What a great album cover. I love how you've positioned the words and the photo is so nostalgic xx
