From our visit to the Flint Hills Discovery Center yesterday. Last week for an exhibit on small rural towns in the Flint Hills that either no longer exist, or are communities that are no longer officially counted as towns (no school or post office). I looked at a couple of other shots I took of this and still can't decipher the name of the town -- starts with an A... This particular display had souvenir glass items from a wide variety of towns -- not all of which are defunct. There's one from Manhattan. Most things were more like milk glass painted with roses. But there were a few of this kind. We have something similar to this, but smaller and far less fancy on the lower half. Ours says "Alta Vista, Kansas" which is a small town south east of Manhattan.
