Each year about this time you can see young people on campus in these easily recognizable blue jackets. They're here for the annual convention of the Kansas FFA.
FFA originally stood for Future Farmers of America, and changed in 1988 to the National FFA Organization to reflect the growing diversity in the industry of agriculture and agriculturally related careers. (I just now checked the web site of the national FFA to see if it still stood for Future Farmers and learned that bit of historical info.)
Tomorrow is the last day of their convention. When I see the FFA jackets all over campus and in the nearby streets and shops, I know summer has arrived.
