Our dear friend, Amy Rea, passed away in New York City in early November, from the brain cancer she survived for 29 months. She was an amazing and much loved free spirit who had many, many friends from different parts of her life. She loved skating and her Central Park Skate Dance Association friends put on a big celebration of her life. There were folks speaking of what her friendship had meant to them. Frank and I were among those who said something. There were refreshments, and people taking pictures of each other, and especially there was music and dancing (no skating possible in this NYU venue). The shots I got with my camera and iPod were mostly not sharp and so to minimize their less-than-high-quality look, I ran them through the ToonCamera app,and then put a whole bunch together into a big collage.
In the upper right is Amy's boyfriend Allan dancing with some of their friends -- also in the left hand side, another picture of him. In the picture of two young women seated (lower right hand quadrant) Amy's daughter, Venus, is the one on the right.
Here's a photo of Amy I posted a year ago November when we visited her in NYC. It was taken at Bryant Park.
These seem like such happy pictures. I'm thinking that your Amy must have been a very fun person to have inspired this kind of send off. I'm sorry she is gone.
