@kali66@joansmor@hermann yes, on the way up to SweetWood in Wisconsin, ten minutes away from my friends’ house, a deer jumped out and I hit it. The car was perfectly driveable, but the driver’s side headlight was broken and the hood was bashed back up to where I didn’t want to try to open it, as I wasn’t sure if I got it open, I could get it closed again. It’s at the auto body shop now, awaiting parts and repair. Sigh.
Oh, no! Your car? As I’ve just read the comments I realize it is your car I am so terribly sorry although it could have been so much worse. At least I’ve heard that sometimes the drivers and passengers are injured as well as the deer in a collision like this. It makes a fascinating photo, and I love your choice of black and white.
@30pics4jackiesdiamond I paused and looked back and didn’t see it lying on the road, so I hope it just trotted or limped into the brush. Later someone said to me that the deer are pretty tough and often seem only a bit shaken. Though I’ve certainly seen dead deer by the side of the road. I should have been using the brights and watching for deer as the sun was sinking, but my mind was only on getting there. @grammyn It happened so fast, before I could react the deer was on the hood and rolling/bouncing back off. I was fine, but you’re right, it could have been much worse. Some new friends I just met at the Freedom Festival told me of their experience where the windshield was smashed and other extensive damage. They were lucky not to have been injured. I’m glad you like the B&W image. I was happy to be able to make a little lemonade from the lemons (so to speak).
Hope you not too shaken ??
