In my defense, I told them the theme of this Black and White challenge was “Toys and Games” and reminded them that they were not toys... the push back came immediately. “Yeah, yeah, yeah...we know — not toys, museum replicas — yada yada yada” They pointed out what I had forgotten. They could PLAY WITH toys. Well, duh! Still, that dino in Hobby Lobby sure did emote! My guys could take some acting lessons from him.
Well, once we’d agreed on a photo shoot with toys, I put on my thinking cap and came up with something closer to scale for my dinos. I had just recently been going through things from my mom and found a little porcelain doll. The note Mom had with the doll reads, “This little doll I always called ‘Stella’ for Mother’s cousin, Stella O’Brien who gave it as a baby gift for me. It was dressed in a long dress made of ribbons and was to pin diaper pins on.” Most of the dinosaurs and the Neanderthal men drifted off, but the Triceratops sister was enchanted with Stella. I wasn’t satisfied with any of the photos we took yesterday, so today I asked what she wanted to do with the doll today. She said she wanted to put her to bed, so we laid her down in the cradle with Frank’s mother’s doll (“Barbara’s doll”). Much better setting! I’ve given it a six word story, too.
