A bit of fresh air

Text to come later. I’m falling asleep as I try to post the last two of the 5 Spare Wise Men tour photos. What I did manage to write somehow disappeared and I can’t start again tonight.

For crying out loud! For the second day in a row, I put off writing the text again until it was the end of the day (Monday). Finished writing and it all disappeared. I must be accidentally hitting “Cancel” instead of “Save this photo.” Too tired to start again tonight. Maybe the third time will be the charm. Mañana…

WTF?? Please excuse me... I wrote quite a long narrative and pressed "Save this photo" and it all disappeared again. This is becoming a separate soap opera. I'm on the computer instead of the iPhone (first attempt) or the iPad (second attempt) and it's a lot easier and quicker to type this way. I thought I had it licked. The universe maybe is telling me I talk too much and write in a meandering stream-of-consciousness manner, and I should learn to edit my remarks down to just what is needed. I'm going to save this much -- write something on the other photo and then come back to this. It is again late, like the last two nights, (I'm a champion procrastinator) but I'm not falling asleep and I'm spitting mad.

OK I've finished with the other picture and I'm back. The 5 SWM wanted to go out, get a little fresh air, and see what our yard looks like. Besides wanting to take them outside for a photo shoot, I had the ulterior motive of hoping to do at least a little work on the yard, as it truly had become a jungle in some areas. I like having some goldenrod, but it and a variety of other stuff had just taken over! Here you see the Wise Men looking out over that 'jungle'. It was 4:00 when we went out and I knew that it would start getting dark as early as 5:00 (as I said, procrastination is like an Olympic sport for me).

After I helped them up onto the rock wall, I did a little work clearing a small area not visible in this shot. A practical person would probably have take the scythe to the mess, but I just used the garden shears, and tried to keep one eye out for the Wise Men as they shifted around trying to find the best flat, steady places up there. Made me a bit nervous, but they seemed to know what they were doing. It was a pretty nice day out -- a little chilly, but not too bad and very sunny.

They wanted to go back out after dark so they could see the stars. I let them go out on the back walk and had them holler in unison when they wanted to come back in. When they came inside, they were happy to warm up on the couch with a small blanket, while I watched a fun horror/comedy movie called "Freaky." It was a take on the old "Freaky Friday" book and then movie, where a teenage girl finds herself inexplicably switched into her mother's body and her mother into hers for the day. In this movie the girl gets switched with a serial killer played by Vince Vaughn. Gory, but very funny. I checked it out a week ago for our regular Sunday evening "Movie Night" with Dan. But then he wasn't feeling well and didn't come over. Frank and I watched something else that night.

This Sunday I was alone because Frank was at a "cue to cue" tech rehearsal for the play "It's a Wonderful Life" in Wamego at the Columbian Theater. He plays Mr. Potter. It should be fun. But I digress...

The Wise Men were not really into that genre of film so, at their request, I helped them back up on the top of the piano and the Nativity scene, where I had agreed they could stay through the Christmas season with their other three WM friends and the rest of the Nativity cast of characters.

It is so much fun to see them wandering around!

I hope that they do not wonder into the wilderness and get lost.

They look to be in a somewhat treacherous spot. I hope they don’t fall into those cracks but as long as they watch where they’re going it looks like it could be a great adventure.

They're looking for the star. Hard to see in the daytime. Like Sue, I hope they stay on course.

I came back to check but can't guarantee I will remember tomorrow. Maybe you will tag us whne you get it?

@jacqbb @wakelys Thanks. They didn't wander too far. It truly was a 'jungle' or 'wilderness' out there and if they had fallen in, it would not have been good.
@grammyn Thankfully no one fell, but it did make me a bit nervous. The one in bright green on the far left has a hole on his left side -- not sure how or when that happened, but I didn't want any more damage. They are not made of very sturdy stuff.
@randystreat You got it! They did come back out after dark and saw the stars, though I don't know if they spotted THE star.
