My get pushed partner, Joan, @joansmor challenged me to show what I love about Wisconsin (since I’m up at SweetWood, visiting my friends for a week.) I took a bunch of pictures of the landscape and other things down at the circle and the path down to there, since I do love this land. But even more than the land of SweetWood, I love the community of people. My visit luckily coincided with the celebration of Imbolc. Some of the folks who came are people I’ve not met, because I’m almost never here for Sabbat celebrations — equinoxes, Yule, Midsummer, Beltane (May Day) etc. So it was a treat to be here for Imbolc (first of February). As our ritual circle ended, I asked a favor of the folks around the fire, to take a picture of the fire with their feet visible surrounding. So everyone moved in close to try and get everyone’s foot in the shot. Here you have the result — a picture that gives a glimpse of community without showing faces.
Mary I didn't read your description when I commented this morning as I was behind and trying to get caught up. I hardly imagine celebrating the first day of Spring so early. We are weeks away. Glad you enjoyed it.
@joansmor Thanks. I hadn’t noticed your comment. Sorry. The spring Equinox will be more like the beginning of Spring. Imbolc is at the time things begin quickening underground - seeds etc. Thankfully the temperature was 40 degrees or so on Friday, rather than the 20 below on Wednesday.
