doesn't really smell like chocolate or mint, just dirt.
Editing consisted of a small crop in Ribbet. This is not a good photo. The focus isn't where I wanted, the lighting is all wrong. Some days I really don't get this photography thing. Oh well, bring on tomorrow! Shot on manual mode with a 18-55 lens
Picasa (free program that you download) has an HDRish adjustment that will help with focus a little. My Nikon has a macro setting that helps when you are trying to take a close up pic, but not always. Auto focus doesn't always focus on what I want it to sometimes.
I'm assuming you wanted the focus in the foreground? Like, the front of that leaf? (And nothing, absolutely nothing, is going to help with focus if it's not in focus. But I know you know that.) I can see why you're bugged by the focus, but what's wrong with the lighting? Did you want it a bit brighter?
@westcoastwallis
Yes that is where I wanted the focus, and yes I realize that nothing is going to fix it except for me. I'm really trying to stay away from programmed modes with this camera, so that's why I did this in manual.
I did want the shot a bit brighter. 9 out of 10 times with this camera, it prompts me to use the flash and I didn't want the flash. lol
You can try to use your exposure compensation and boosting it by 1 or 2. It's something I'm just learning how to use myself so I can't really describe it well to you. If you look it up on the Nikon site it might be able to help you out a bit

Thanks so much Mike. I don't know why I never remember that button.
