Shirakawago Village P4208635

This afternoon we caught a bus out to Shirakawago village. The area is famous for its old farm houses which were built with traditional thatched roofing. The village is over 250 years old and are maintained in the traditional style. Shirakawago and the nearby village of Gokayama form the UNESCO listed Historic villages of Shirakawago and Gotayama.

@ludwigsdiana We’re not big city people Diana, although in hindsight w should have allowed more time in Tokyo. Our itinerary had to be based around Kyoko’s wedding and getting to Kyoto a few days before heading out to Fukuchiyama for the wedding.
