We only managed to get to two silos today, one of which is a work in progress. The Walpeup Silo will be fabulous when it's finished. The design has been marked out on the silo and as you can see work has started. The artist was having a break when we arrived but while we were there he went back up in the cherry picker. Comparing the close up and the portrait image gives a better idea as to the size of the silos.
The other silo we visited was at Patchewollock. The image is of a local sheep and grain farmer, Nick "Noodle" Hulland.
The Patchewollock silo columns are 35 metres high.
How good to catch them working on one - it must have been so interesting to see. I've always marvelled at how they can keep their perspective and still be so close to the surface.
