We decided to shorten our trip, because high winds and storms were forecast, so we came home today. We all appreciated spending last night in the Hyden Motel, rather than a cold, windy night in the campers.
From Hyden we drove along the The Tin Horse Highway, to the small town of Kulin.
The Tin Horse ‘Highway’ is a 15 kilometre stretch of road in Western Australia which heads east from the town of Kulin out to the Kulin Bush Races Track at Jilakin Rock. Since 1995, tin horses have been popping up along the highway, in town and on other roads in the region. The Tin Horse Highway is an ongoing and dynamic community project with new and interesting characters being created all the time. Every October, Kulin holds a competition for the best new Tin Horse as part of the Annual Kulin Bush Races weekend.
This is a very small sample of the clever creations that we saw. There are over 70 horses in the area.
