Heard that "thunk" sound you hate to hear - this poor little downy had hit the patio door and bounced off. Laid on the concrete for ten minutes - but he survived to fly away.
@shirleybankfarm Yes, Shirley, the downies are the smallest of the woodpeckers. The male has the red spot on his head (the female doesn't). We have several that spend a lot of time in our backyard.
That happens a lot at my house too, and I dread what I might find when I hear the thunk. I'm so pleased this little beauty recovered and flew away. I have holygraphic streamers in front of all the windows, but it's not 100% effective.
Sooo glad he survived! That sound is no fun to hear. I'm so glad to be able to catch up with commenting on your beautiful images. Since I got the go ahead to be a little more active, I don't have as much time for viewing and commenting. I have so many things to catch up on after being so limited for 10 months with the Achilles tendon injury. I'm still not out of the woods yet, but I think I'm on the right track.
