I've sure appreciated the many comments and suggestions on pictures posted. I am learning so much from all of you. I never knew (among many other things) that Queen Anne's Lace was also known as Wild Carrot. Also never noticed that in its early stages it is rimmed in pink - really pretty.
Yes, it is a member of the carrot or parsley family along with parsley, fennel, dill, parsnip, angelica, cumin, cilantro and chervil. The red or pink areas attract insects to pollinate it.

It's also known as Cow Parsley in the UK. I was rather relieved to learn that it's much more widely known as Queen Anne's Lace, a much prettier name for such a lovely flower!
