I had never seen one of these polyphemus moth's in my life and now I've seen two in the last month. They are so big you sure can't miss them! This had the early morning light coming up behind him and the colors were so pretty.

You can even see the glitter from the wing scales. Gorgeous.

My guess is the wingspan is around 7 to 8 inches across -- maybe more.
