A very beautiful shot. At this time of the year, the monarchs are hibernating here. They cluster together with wings folded tight and just look like a bunch of old leaves hanging from the underside of a sheltering shrub. They return to the same bush year after year - decades after decade I believe which means there is some form of transferable knowledge that passes from generation to the next.- I have seen photos but I would so like to find and capture this phenomena for myself.
Aaaagh! I planted lantana last year and a Butterfly Bush..the BB lived but the lantana did not. I think the deer ate it. I need to plant more! It attracts hummingbirds too! This is a gorgeous monarch! Lucky you!
Love the detail in the butterfly and flower.
