Up Close and Too Personal??

Caught these milkweed bugs (love the color coordination) on a milkweed plant - very few milkweed plants growing this year. Worrisome for the butterflies - everything is so odd this year.
Great close-up

Great close up. Looks like they could be giant love bugs, which we have around here.

I had these guys in my yard a couple of years ago; they killed the flowering bush they were on. I had taken their photo, too!

Great close up capture - fab, crisp focus. I see what you mean about the colour co-ordination and the diffferent shades of orange are very pretty. Are milkweed bugs considered pests?

This is great.

@dulciknit Thanks to your question, Alison, I've learned a lot about milkweed bugs. They really are no problem to the ecosystem unless you are trying to harvest milkweed seeds. They are sap suckers and eat on the seeds which leaves the seeds deformed.
