Murano glass paper weight.
I gave it a try how to achieve a really black background using a glass-ceramic cooktop panel. (not my normal setup for my black background shots) In daylight and with some halogen spots I have underneath my kitchen cabinets, there was far too much light reflection, and the panel did not look black. So I made some shades from normal black paper what helped a lot. And I adjusted the white balance manually to get rid of a yellowish hint, and make the glass paper weight appear in the natural blue.
Left SOOC picture / right setup.
Camera: Sony ILCA-77M2
Exposure: 1.0 sec
Aperture: f/4.5
ISO Speed: 100
Focal Length: 90 mm
White Balance: Manual (artificial light)
Special: Tripod and remote button or 2sec delay button.
The cooking field ring I would remove using PS, but here I wanted to show a SOOC pic.
Hi Sheila (Sheila Norris @sheilaj) I gave it a try to use the cooktop panel, to achieve a black background. As you learned the reflection of light is very powerful. I used shades, and this helped a lot. Probably you give it a try too.
This is so helpful Mona! Thanks. I can see that the picture looks blackish, but then compared with your previous shot (My hell's sweet kitchen) you can see that it really isn't. The set up is very useful. You have a much bigger camera than do I (mine is an Olympus OMD-EM5, a micro 4/3, which I love for its portability; and it is my second digital - up from the point and shoot I used to have), but I know I should be able to take some decent photos with this. I will do some more playing. I have friends who live part time in Champery, and we visit on occasion. Maybe some day we will meet!
