Dyed felt dreads, seen on the market at our towns medieval festival today.
Interesting for me: People have been making felt longer than any other kind of other fabric. There are many legends on how felt was discovered. Some say it was St. Clement who stuffed wool fleece in his shoes while running away from hatters, others say it was a nomad who placed fleece under his saddle so not to blister his horse. What they both have in common is through moister, heat and friction felt was created. Through time it would also be discovered that when felted enough the fabric repels water, keeps dry and warm in the winter, dry and cool in the summer, and fireproof.
