“three nuts for Cinderella” or “wild hazelnut harvest“
At the moment I have not a lot of time to range the woods. But when I do, I pick up the ripe hazelnuts, sort the infested out (if you put them into water, the bad one will swim) and let them dry at home. Later they go trough a roasting process.
Seeing those filberts always remind me on the film “three nuts for Cinderella” one of the most loved Czechoslovak/East German fairy-tale films from 1973. This Cinderella film employs a twist, though, when a handsome prince comes knocking. Cinderella does not simply fall into the prince's arms. In this version, he must actively pursue the young woman who is a skilled sharpshooter prone to wearing hunting outfits. Cinderella also has three wishes at her disposal, gained from three magic nuts.
The film has become, a holiday classic in several European countries. It is shown on TV around Christmas time every year in the Czech Republic, Germany, Slovakia, Switzerland, and sometimes Russia. And the film and the music is a long-time favourite for me.
