2019-04-01 My Rainbow 2019

Congratulations to all the other participants and finishers of the rainbow challenge and thanks a million to Mel @m2016 for setting-up this challenge.

***

I did the rainbow month before, and I knew, that I will struggle and beeing grumpy also this year. But I had this final picture full of bokeh in mind I wanted to achieve, and just went on, and on, and on,... and lamented and grumbled on my way. (Sorry!) Once I started I could not leave my path, what I often do with my ordinary daily pics. Normally you will never now, what I had in mind, and how far, far away my result is. ;-)

(Only for me)
My rainbow challenge key learnings:

- Also after some experience from former years, it is still far more difficult to get the exact tone, shade of a colour, or colour range to match the calendar, than I thought.
- It took me a lot of time and lots of attempts to get a (the) decent picture, and sometimes even longer to process to hit at least slightly my expectations.
- Sometimes I was not happy with the daily shot, but nevertheless did post it, hoping in the end, this piece would not carry weight. (I did not think I would ever tattoo a banana!)
- I know that I often hide behind a black & white or a food pic, when everything else fails. No hiding this month.
- I learned in the previous years that I’m not a colour person. Again this was far away from my comfort zone. And I'm very happy it is over and I'm FREE again.
- I'm nevertheless pleased how the full month turned out. And I’m thinking of printing it or making postcards.

- Note to myself (I copy this note every year): Never, never ever do it again! Please remind me, if I think of doing it again next year!

What I already knew: you are a great bunch of people out there, and I was glad to get such a lot of motivation and support. Thanks.
It's fabulous M! And I wish I was half as talented as you are with your set-up and processing. I do understand how restricted you can feel about this month (having just finished my first one). But you pulled it off. Well done on this AWESOME calendar!

After doing the b&w challenge in February I’m not ready for more restrictions!

This has turned out beautifully and makes a wonderful coherent calendar. I think your decision to give your shots an overall cast of the days colour rather than just photographing an object of that colour has improved this cohesiveness in the final collection. I'm really impressed.

What an amount of work but what a result ! That is professional level artistry. I am also impressed by the fact that obviously, you knew right from the beginning where you wanted to go, and that you have been able to stick to it day after day. You had a very ambitious vision and you have delivered it.
March 31st, 2019
I certainly hope you get reinspired by next year. Your calendar from last year inspired me to try my first rainbow this year. I love the post processing you have done on your overall calendar....another fabulous inspiration.

I'm so glad you explained how you approached this. More complicated than I would have thought -- but isn't most of this photography more complicated than expected?

@angelar Hi Angela, thank you so much for your kind comment. I'm gladly help if I can. Please just point out, what picture you would like to have a "behind the scene" information. And if I have some time on my hand on the weekend or so, I will write a description. Meanwhile have a look at this: I made this behind the scene information last year, probably it helps too. https://365project.org/mona65/365/2018-03-09 . Here you can also find a link for the explanation shot and a further link to my website with a step by step guide. BTW, what kind of post processing programm do you use? Or do you have a picture of your own, you would like to pp, where I can help? Just get in touch with me, please!

@mona65 Thank you for providing the link to your tutorial of last year. Very interesting and useful. It also demonstrates how much dedication and know how are needed to realize a calendar page like this one.
