No need to comment,... this collage is just to explain the angle of puddle photography and as link for the newest technique-95 challenge: reflection.
Those of you who follow me know that I often use reflection as technique, to give some an arty twist to my pictures. I'm often asked how I achieve a reflection in a puddle, and some of you wonder If I have to crouch down, to get a puddle shot or if the reflections is just post processing? There is post processing in most of my shots. But the reflections are real! And yes you have to lie, crouch, kneel down, as much as possible. For example here two pictures, to explain the difference. Left a picture my husband took of me, lying nearly in the puddle to get a shot of the magic lighthouse at Peggy's Cove (Nova Scotia last summer). Not my best side though. As you can see from this POV (point of view), there is only part of the lighthouse visible in the water reflection. On the right: one of my shots taken at this moment, having the camera and lens just above the water line. There is much more reflection visible.
It is all about, how near by you are from the shiny subject and what angle your camera is,... have fun trying this out.
@caterina Haha, wonderful memory. Isn't it funny that from the name Zattere, I would not be able by heart to locate the place immediately, but I know exactly what puddle you mean and that I would find it (the place) again at any time. Just walk down the canal where the gondolas are made, and at the end on the pier, was that certain puddle,... :-) Great memory indeed.
@tdaug80 Ohhh yes it is. I hid the locations somewhere in this long text. Glad you had this experience just a couple of days ago. Hope you enjoyed it, as we did.
Love seeing this shot from your visit and it's even more special because you included a pic that M took of you 'at work' creating this special image. :)
Final image is stunning.
