What's Inside

The other night, I peeked inside the door of my VCR and found all this... yep, all of this makes my tapes run, record, rewind and fast forward at the press of a button! Isn't technology beautiful?
When you look at how it used to be, compared to the discs now, no wonder you needed a tracking dial to adjust the tape heads. I remember when we had the 8 tracks, we had to occasionally use a book of matches under the tape to lift it a bit so it would play correctly. .

@digitalrn This is my 6-head Panasonic VCR which - believe it or not - wouldn't play on the first try. I plugged it in and read the book and did everything right. Then, we put in a tape and it just came up with the blue screen but we could hear the sound. So, we called the company and they said it was too moist inside it... so the first night I had my VCR it was sitting out in the driest part of the house - in the hall! The next day, I plugged it back it and it played... sometimes I wonder if machines stuff up just to test us. :P

A very good point. I just bought a VHS and DVD recorder to salvage a lot of my tapes. Good luck with your machine.
